I am in the stillness, the silence that sometimes seems to consume you. You fear I am far away, that I am nowhere to be found, but I am always able to be found by my people.
Though the sound of nothingness seems to encapsulate you, know that I am here, watching over you, guiding you and protecting you. Know that I am never far, always within reach. The enemy will try to lie to you, to whisper to you in the silence that I do not care, that I do not listen or that I am unobtainable; those are all lies, do not pay heed to his voice.
Press into the silence, the stillness, for soon my still small voice will be heard, drifting by you like a passing breeze.
Sometimes, you need the silence, you need to be desperate for me, and there are moments in your life when only the stillness of everything around you will make you draw to me.
The world is loud, it yells at you, pulls you in so many different directions you feel dizzy. I am not that way, I will not do that to you.
Elijah couldn’t find me in the strong wind, the earthquake, nor the fire, he found me when he was alone and still, when he forced his mind to relax and focus on nothing but me, nothing but my still small voice.
I need my people to be still, patient, quiet, then I need them to move, charge, attack. There will be a day, soon, when I make a Royal Call to my people. I will roar over this nation so loudly the mountains will shake and the oceans ripple, the enemy scatter and cover their ears.
But, not my people. My people will know it is coming, anticipate its call, for in their quiet time with me they will be warned, in their stillness in my presence they will hear me whisper to them, “get ready, get ready, get ready”.
My people must be still in me, quiet with me, because I will not yell at them, I will not force anything on them, but I need them to listen for me, watch for me and anticipate my call.
You will find me in the silence, when you still everything around you and focus on me. Do not fear the silence, for I am in the silence. Do not fear the stillness, for I am there as well. I am jealous for my people, for you, so be still with me, be silent with me, and I will guide you, speak to you and pour into you.
I will always be found by my children, always.
“And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: and after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so.” -1 Kings 19:11-13
