Sometimes, God shows us just how powerful our words are and how important it is to cover every aspect of our lives in prayer.
Recently, my husband, who owns his own company, has had an awful experience with one of his sub-contractors. The project his company has been working on since May, one of the biggest projects they’ve done so far, was supposed to be finalized by June 21. Unfortunately, the sub-contractor was unable to provide the promised materials by the agreed upon date, so the project was pushed back 5 days, then 7, 10, 15…finally, the sub-contractor said they will not be able to provide the materials until sometime in August!
Clearly, this has caused stress for my husband, and myself. This project was more than just one single job, it was the beginning of multiple opportunities with the client, a very valuable, and influential, resource in the industry my husband works in. Since my husband is the primary contractor it’s his name on the line and his company is the one suffering and whose name has been tarnished. To be weeks late has truly been devastating.
As July started to tick away, I found myself becoming more anxious about the project, especially as I could tell my husband’s stress levels were building. It got to a point where I didn’t even ask how it was going or if there was an update because the moment we started to talk about it we both became upset. It was the giant elephant in the room neither of us dared discuss.
As it became clearer and clearer the entire situation was completely out of our control, my husband and I started to pray. The most pivotal, and continuous, thing I started to speak over the project was, “what the enemy means for evil, God will turn to good” (Genesis 50:20). In all honesty, I had no idea how good could come from something so bad and embarrassing, but I knew God was BIG.
On Tuesday, the sub-contractor stated the materials wouldn’t be in until August 28, over two months later than the original end date for the project. My husband read me the email, both of us sat in silence. We then talked about what he would say to his client, how he could possibly make this right and, most importantly, how the relationship could be salvaged. We prayed and again stated that God would somehow make good come from this situation.
Wednesday, my husband came home with a lightness about him I hadn’t seen since June. He told me he spoke with the client about not being able to finish the project until the end of the month. I sat down, nervous for what he was about to tell me.
The client told my husband he understood the holdup was unavoidable, that he truly appreciated my husband’s work on the project and has gotten multiple compliments for the work that has already been done. He then told my husband he will recommend his company to others in his position and that he wants my husband to walk through another potential project…talk about an answer to prayer!
I have no idea how the client has reacted this way other than knowing God is good and the words we spoke over this project took root and grew into something beautiful!
Never doubt the power of your words and continuous prayer over EVERY situation in your life, big and small.
God cares about all aspects of our lives, physical, emotional, relational and financial. God is continuously looking for ways to assist us and make things better.
Our Father will always make a way even when there seems to be no way.
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done.”
-Genesis 50:20
Thank you for your comment. I’m sorry so many things have been happening! “Ask and it WILL be given to you; seek and you WILL find; knock and the door WILL be opened to you.”
God is good, that is the primary truth I stand on.
You are certainly not invisible to the Father.
